How-To: Compile and Install Transmission 1.21 in Debian Lenny

Note: This how-to may also work in Ubuntu and other Debian-based distributions.

Transmission is a light BitTorrent client for GNOME.

Install the necessary dependencies:

apt-get build-dep transmission

Get the source code from here. Uncompress it, change the current working directory to transmission-1.21 and issue:

./configure
make
make install

The last one as root.
